Hobs

Hob units are available in 4 types;

  • Gas hobs- These are still the most popular choice and are offered in a range of finishes with either cast iron or enamelled pan supports.
  • Induction hobs- The most technological of hobs, they operate much more quickly than ceramic, are easy to control and retain little residual heat once the pan is removed from the hob. Note only pans made of ferrous metal are suitable for use on induction hobs. Induction hobs operate differently by utilisung a electro magnet positioned under the ceramic cooking zones. When you switch on the zone you want to use and place a ferrous metal bottomed pan on it, this completes an electric circuit and the heat is transferred evenly to the pan and its contents. As the areas around the zones remain cool, even during cooking, if food boils over it will not burn onto the surface.
  • Ceramic hobs- Ceramic hobs have a smooth glass finish which makes them practical and easy to clean. They also look flush, neat and modern in the contemporary kitchen.
  • Domino hobs- This type of hob allows you to tailor make a flexible cooking centre by choosing and combining anything from a wok burner and ceramic/induction hob to a gas burner, barbecue grill and a deep fat fryer.
